Meadow Mice
Short Film Project

When residents of a remote Balkan village wake up one morning and realize that the state has collapsed, they find themselves unable to agree on who owns the land in the middle of the village. While they have the freedom to determine their own destiny for the first time in their lives, the villagers choose to fight with each other by chasing small accounts. Despite their attempts to share it, complications arise each time, preventing a resolution. Meanwhile, three
little children observe the villagers' senseless fights without understanding the reasons behind them. In the end, none of the villagers can prevail and all of the land is left to its natural
owner, the meadow mouse. Inspired by Samuel Becket's “Waiting for Godot, " the screenplay provides a multi-layered story within a brief and comedic narrative, adopting a Brechtian approach and inviting the audience to contemplate on the nature of ownership.
